We are pleased to invite submissions to the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Western Canadian Philosophical Association (WCPA) & the 11th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy / Société canadienne de philosophie environnementale (CSEP/SCPE), to be held concurrently from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the University of Regina.
All submissions can be made, by the deadline, through EasyChair.

We invite four different types of submission, from all areas of philosophy:
Full-Paper Submissions
- Approx. 3000 words (excluding references and abstract)
- Accompanied by an approx. 150-word abstract and 3-5 keywords indicating area(s) of philosophy and topic
- Prepared for anonymous review
- Suitable for presentation in 20 minutes, to be followed by commentary and discussion
Abstract-Only Submissions
- Approx. 500 words
- Accompanied by 3-5 keywords indicating area(s) of philosophy and topic
- Prepared for anonymous review
- Suitable for presentation in 15 minutes, to be followed by discussion but no commentary
Full-Panel / Symposia Submissions
- 3 abstracts, approx. 200-500 words each, in a single document
- Prepared for anonymous review
- Each suitable for presentation in 15 minutes, to be followed by overall discussion but no commentary
- Accompanied by the title of the panel and a short description of its area(s) of philosophy and unifying theme/topic
Author-Meets-Critics Submissions
- Book title, author, and publication status
- A brief description of the book and proposed session, including the names, affiliations, and expected contributions of 2-3 critics
- Statement confirming that the author and all critics will be able to participate in the session, if accepted
A submission (of any of the four types above) on an environmental topic will be considered for inclusion on both the WCPA program and the CSEP/SCPE program. However, if you are submitting with the CSEP/SPCE in mind, please indicate this somewhere prominent in your submission.
The WCPA and CSEP will each award a Student Essay Prize. So, if you are a student, please indicate this somewhere prominent in your submission. Only full-paper submissions will be eligible for the WCPA Student Essay Prize, barring exceptional circumstances.

Il espère ainsi contribuer au renforcement de l’exercice de la philosophie en français dans l’Ouest canadien et donner la chance aux philosophes qui comprennent le français mais ne s’en servent pas beaucoup de participer à la conférence dans cette langue.
Special Workshop: Interconnection in Indigenous Philosophies and the Disciplinary Colonial University
To begin the conference, the afternoon of Friday, October 2 will include a workshop featuring academic researchers and knowledge keepers who work with them. Dr. Blair Stonechild will start the discussion with a first keynote. To continue the discussion over the rest of the conference, we specifically encourage papers engaging with Indigenous philosophies and Indigenous scholars, whether they are established, emerging, or studying, and whether they are academic or working in community, to submit papers to the WCPA.
Location details
The conference will take place at the College Avenue campus of the University of Regina, which offers accessible rooms over two floors, with a view of Wascana Park. The building is located downtown, within reasonable walking distance from the hotels, with ample parking. It is newly renovated to preserve the historical features of the original building and bring it into the 21st century. It features ample space for open or private conversation and hosts wonderful artworks from the President’s Art Collection. More information on hotels will be provided as registration time approaches.

This year the WCPA will be held in conjunction with 9th annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy/ Société Canadienne de Philosophie Environnementale.
The University of Saskatchewan Philosophy Department’s Annual Murray Lecture, will also be delivered on Friday, 27 September.

Submissions on any topic in academic philosophy are welcome. Submissions should be in the form of extended abstracts (500-750 words). They should give a clear idea of the central theses defended, and, more importantly of the arguments to defend them. Please include indicative bibliography (max. 3-6 items) and 3-5 keywords. Full papers can also be submitted but should include an abstract. Final papers should be a maximum of 3500 words (presentable in 25-30 minutes), and must be made available for commentators by 14 September.
Electronic submissions as attachments to your email, in .rtf, .doc, or .pdf, anonymised for refereeing. Include your name, email address, and academic affiliation (if applicable) in your email. Panels will be allocated time slots of 2 hours 15 minutes or 3 hours 30 minutes, depending on number of participants.
Colloquium papers and panels/symposia on environmental topics may be submitted for presentation either on the WCPA main program or the program of the CSEP/SCPE, but will automatically be considered for presentation on both programs. Western Canadian Philosophical Association stands for a group of philosophy departments in Western Canada who have been passing the ‘baton’ for half a century to host an annual philosophy conference, usually in late October. UBC is pleased to host this year.
Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy meets with WCPA for several years now and invites submissions on topics in environmental philosophy.
Keynote speakers to be announced at a later date.
UBC is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam people.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
Full papers are welcome on any topic in academic philosophy, approximately 3000 words, 30 minutes reading time. Please precede papers with an abstract of up to 100 words. Papers on environmental philosophy will be considered as submissions to Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy, which meets simultaneously.
